How we build the calendar
Barro Alto does not appear in the official Goiás event calendars we checked in October 2026, and festival programmes are usually announced shortly beforehand by the municipality and organisers, mostly on social media. So we follow three rules:
- We only publish dates confirmed by a source (municipality, organiser or press), with the date we checked.
- A finished edition does not automatically become the “next edition” — the new date is added only when announced.
- Festivals mentioned in old lists without recent records (such as jeep meet-ups, carnival or motocross) are not included until confirmed.
The town’s festivals
- Barro Alto’s anniversary — 14 November. The date of the 1958 law that created the municipality. Past editions featured concerts and a horseback ride.
- ExpoAgro. An agricultural fair with rodeo and concerts at the fairgrounds; the 5th edition ran from 17 to 19 September 2026.
- Horseback rides (cavalgadas). A strong local tradition linked to the anniversary and the Rural Union — such as the Amigos do Estradão ride, whose 1st edition was on 15 November 2025, from the Barro Alto livestock park to Souzalândia.
- Religious festivals. The patron saint is Our Lady of Abadia. Sources disagree on the date of her feast; check with the parish.
