Sources and methodology

Where our data comes from, how we check it and what we leave out.

Updated on October 4, 2026 adapted from the Portuguese original

Principles

  1. Sources first. Every factual item (figures, dates, addresses, phone numbers) comes from an identifiable source, listed at the end of each page with the date consulted.
  2. Source hierarchy. We prefer official sources (IBGE, the municipality, the council, the Goiás government, the Diocese, a company about its own operation), then regional and industry press, and only then supporting sources (encyclopaedias, collaborative maps), always flagged.
  3. When in doubt, leave it out. When sources disagree and we cannot resolve it, we say so.
  4. Nothing made up. No prices, opening hours, future event dates, phone numbers or businesses without a verifiable source.

Distances

We found no official road-distance table for Barro Alto. Distances on this site were calculated by routing with OpenStreetMap data (OSRM) and are approximate.
